Emotional Freedom Technique: A Success Story!

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Rich MacKenzie After training in Emotional Freedom Technique some years ago I was asked to be a guest on a radio station on the south coast of England. The show was about weight loss, however when I arrived I found out that they had more in store for me. The show presenter wanted to do something on air to demonstrate the effectiveness of the therapies that I practiced, so that his listens could understand the process which I used. What he had in mind was to help someone with a phobia of heights to feel comfortable on the top of a high building. In fact he had roped in his fellow presenter who co-hosted the breakfast show on the same station. This guy really was petrified when in came to heights. From what I can remember this guy even had an issue with being on level three of the building that we where using for the experiment. This was certainly going to be a challenge and failure was definitely not an option. There was too much riding on this for that to be the case. I was getting coverage on two different shows so I wanted this to be a success. When the time come to help this guy, I started with Hypnosis which we done off air and in the offices of the station. This really helped him to relax and feel ready to take the next step. Luckily the presenter that had invited me had found the largest building in the city and had gained permission to use it for the experiment. While stood at the base of the building the guy that I was working with was already getting nervous as he know what was coming. This is when I decided to try out EFT. We done one round of treatment and then ascended to the first floor. When we got there he felt happy, however still felt nervous due to the task that laid ahead. We then done a further three rounds of EFT and we saw a definite change in him. At this point he started walking to the top of the building he seemed so eager that it was actually hard to keep up with him at this point. When we got to the top he was fine in fact he was more that fine he was ecstatic! Really excited that something that had held him back for so long was now gone and he was feeling 100% comfortable about it. Another success for EFT! Wanted: A Diva for the Job of a Lifetime!

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Merci Miglino When I was a child, I always thought the world was mine, A stomping ground for me, full of opportunities. I always had this attitude that I was going to go out into the world and do all the things I wanted to do.” Madonna So, what happens to the diva or Adonis in us? What happens to the girl or boy who is convinced of their career choices, bold enough to use their imagination, and powerful enough to take risks and survive setbacks? The world gets a hold of us, thats what. And before we know it, it is all about fitting in, safety at all cost - making ourselves small so others wouldnt feel uncomfortable, rolling up our boldness in favor of security, or what we think is security. In short, we make a trade off. So what is the very first step in turning our career paths around? It all starts with a perspective makeover. Get rid of that drab black and white, all-or-nothing thinking you wrap yourself in every day! Hit the stage with a new and colorful perspective! We need to fully awaken the child inside of us but with our adult sense of perspective. See, children are all about the black or white, always and never, all or nothing, either-or attitude. If a child fails to get what it wants they feel as if they are just going to die!!! Which of course we adults know is NOT true. But we havent leveraged the Diva or divine aspect in us to actually act as if we know this! Your divine self knows that life is NOT either-or, all or nothingso calling on your inner Diva or Adonis shifts that perspective! OK so I hear youhow do you go about adopting this new perspective? First write down every reason you can think of for why you dont have the things in life that you really, really want! A new job, a promotion, more money Next write down any fears attached to these desires. For example, I want a great job but Im afraid to change my current job, or Im afraid Ill never get the job I want, or Im afraid I wont pass the schooling or training needed for this position. Now, identify where you are in all-or-nothing thinking! Underneath every fear, my Divas and Adonis is a misconceptiona perspective that says. I know the outcome will be bad. But do you really know this? Couldnt it be just as likely that the outcome will be good? Or even better than you thought? I am not telling you it will always be goodor bad. Somewhere in the middle is where most of lifes choices shake out. Being conscious of this perspective is the first step to adopting a true Diva-like outlookone that says, I have a 50-50 chance of getting what I want and those arent bad odds! Functions Of Blood

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Victor_Ezeaku] Victor Ezeaku The adult human has about seven to five liters of blood. . Without blood, the human body would stop working and consequently die.Have you ever imagined what life would be like without blood. We will have a pictorial mental image of what a life on Earth will be like if there is no Blood in the human body. Obviously blood is life. Blood is the medium for the transport of digested and absorbed materials throughout the human body. Below are some of the functions of blood. Blood helps to transport food nutrients to various tissues for utilization. Blood also helps in the transportation of waste products of metabolism such as urea, uric acid, etc from tissues where there are produced to the kidney for excretion. The Red Blood Cell, which is a cellular part of the blood help to transport respiratory gases such as oxygen from the lungs to actively metabolizing tissues.Hormones secreted by the endocrine glands are transported to target organs via the blood. The White Blood cells help to protect out body against foreign agents such as bacteria and viruses. The blood helps in the evenly distribution of heat generated by actively metabolizing tissues such as the liver and muscles to cooler parts of the body. The plasma proteins, helps to maintain the pH of the body fluid. The oncotic pressure of the plasma proteins helps to control the exchange of fluids between the capillaries and the tissues. The blood is a very precious fluid, so try and handle it with care! Psychological Encouragement

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Michelle Gauvin Alley In 1991, I started my first year of college. It was a scary time for me as it is with most students leaving home for the first time. I was set up with general courses, as well as an education course, since that was what I was majoring in at the time. I also took a psychology class. The psychology professor was big man that tended to go so fast that things he taught went in one ear and out the other. Because I had a learning disability this was not good. I spent more time reading and getting notes from other students, but the worse part of the course was the testing. The professor tended to cover 3 or 4 chapters and then have a test. I was doing ok with the regular assignments but not the tests. So, I came up with the idea that maybe he would be willing to give me the exam orally instead of written. After class one night, I went up to him and asked him if he minded. He said he didnt mind and we set up a time and day. I spent the next day studying as hard as I thought I possibly could so that when that evening came I felt ready for the test. That evening I went over to his office and took the test orally. I did lousy, and he suggested that I drop the course at that point because my grade was so bad. I asked him to let me take it written the next day when all the other students took it. He said that was ok. So, I spent that evening and all day the next day studying for that test. I was determined to prove him wrong and to prove that I could do it. The next evening, I went in to take the test and felt even more ready than I had been when I took the oral one. For some reason, the answers seem to come easier for me. When I left that room after the exam, I came out with a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. As a person with learning disabilities, I had to have courage to continue on, determination to prove to others and myself that I could do anything I put my mind to, and confidence in myself as well. Without these things I never would have gotten a grade of 105 on the test and passed the course with a B+. One thing I have learned over the years is this: Do not give up on yourself, no matter what. You just need to keep telling yourself, “I can do this”. The more you tell yourself this, the more you will begin to believe it. And the more you will do. About the Author Michele Gauvin Alley is a successful adult, who has learned to cope with learning disabilities. 5 Top Reasons for Doing a Background Check

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Sue Edwards When conducting a background check on the Internet, or by any other means, you should always keep in mind your particular reasons for doing a background check. Here are five reasons why most companies or individuals conduct background checks: 1. Negligent Hiring - in recent years, companies are being held liable in negligent hiring cases for not completing thorough background investigations. Companies and individuals have to face up to the fact that it is not only about what they know about a person, but also about what they should have known about a person. There is simply no way to avoid this. Not doing a thorough background check is as dangerous a practice as not having insurance. Doing criminal background checks alerts you to potentially dangerous job applicants or tenants (if you are a landlord). It is estimated that the average cost is $150,000 per incident. 2. False Skill or Training Claims - anyone you have hired, or are looking to hire, who falsely claims previous training, experience or education, is becoming a major problem for businesses and individuals. A recent study has found that 53% of applications contain falsehoods. Not doing background checks in this situation results in hiring incompetent, or even worse, dangerous people. Not finding false information on applications can also lead to high turnover, loss of business, loss of productivity and high liability exposure. By doing a thorough investigation, these risks can be limited. The average estimated cost is $32,000 per incident. 3. Workplace Violence - On-the-job violence has become a major problem. Homicide is now the #2 cause of death in the workplace. Not only is there a human cost, there is the cost of business disruption. Very often traumatic incidents can lead to firings. The cost of rehiring and training and possible expensive litigation is also a factor. The average estimated cost is $1 million per incident. 4. Employee Theft and Fraud - approximately 30% of all business failures are due to employee theft and fraud (cited by the US Chamber of Commerce). It is estimated that 70% of these crimes are committed by repeat offenders. Doing criminal, civil, workers compensation and Department of Motor Vehicles background checks are your best protection. The average estimated cost is $650 per incident. 5. Lawsuits & False Claims - it seems in our world today there are individuals who are always looking to take advantage of businesses. These individuals use nuisance, trumped up, or even fraudulent insurance and Workmen’s Comp. claims for initiating lawsuits. The dollar cost is staggering, with increased insurance premiums not to mention the cost of legal counsel. With just a few simple background checks (including criminal, civil, Workmen’s Comp. histories) you can dramatically reduce your risk. By spending just a few dollars you can save yourself thousands. The average estimated cost is $7,500 per incident. Protect yourself, the ones you love and your assets. The price is very small considering what the consequences might be if you dont take the time to do a background check! The Best Always & Stay Safe, ~ Sue Edwards This article is 1 of 3. San Diego Restaurants You Can’t Miss!

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Henrique Suave This article is the first of a series about San Diego Restaurants you can’tmiss. If you live in San Diego, or even more important, if you come to America’s finest city as a visitor, I wanna give you some great options for dining in San Diego, California. I live in San Diego for more than 6 years, I’m originally from Brazil, so pleaseforgive me for any mistakes, because english is not my first language, but I’lltry my best to comply with all the grammar rules. Being an engineer from Brazil, I wanna start telling you about the braziliancuisine and the brazilian restaurants available in San Diego. One of the most tradicitional kind of restaurant/cuisine in Brazil, is whatwe call “churrascaria”, which would be a bbq restaurant, but differentthan anything you can imagine, if you don’t know how it is yet. Of course we’re talking meat here, so if you’re a vegetarian I apologize, butIt’s not going to be a good choice for you. The Brazilian bbq steakhouse, whateveryou wanna call it, It’s an amazing dining experience, specially if you nevertried. So what is it, exactly? It starts with a salad bar and a all you can eat buffet that includes mosttradicional dishes from Brazil. That would be more than enough, but don’t letthat fool you, the fun is yet to begin. At your table, there is a ’sign’ with two sides, one red and one green. Youuse that to show the servers that you “want meat” when the green sideis up or red, if you’re not up to it. The servers will bring you more than 20different kinds and/or cuts of meat, all from the bbq, that includes ribs, porkribs, chicken, italian style sausage, turkey wrapped in bacon, filet mignonwrapped in bacon, skirt stake, try tip, try tip with garlic, top sirloin . .. Well, you get the picture. They will come to your table, if your “sign” is green and keep servingyou until you can’t handle no more. It’s an amazing experience. I took a few american friends to this restaurantfor their first time, and they loved it. They couldn’t believe the amount offood and the quality of the food. Everything is delicius. Of course qualitywill vary from place to place, and even how many different kinds of meats theywill serve, but the experience is similar. In San Diego, there is two different Brazilian BBQ restaurants, both in downtownand actually, very close to each other. One is called Rei do Gado, or the king of the cows. It’s a good restaurant,It’s been in business for a while now and on a saturday night you’ll need reservations.Prices can be expensive for a saturday night, around $35 per person. One greattip is to go for a weekday lunch special, that costs aroun $13 a person, a muchbetter deal. But don’t get me wrong, It’s worth it every dollar. Rei do Gadois located at 939 Fourth Avenue, in downtown San Diego, on the famous GaslampQuarter. The zipcode is 92101 if you wanna da a map search. The other great choice is Samba Grill Churrascaria, also in downtown, and likethey like to call, It’s an endless parade of skewered meat! Samba Grill headquarteris in Salt Lake City, and the San Diego location is at 514, Horton Plaza, GaslampQuaters, Downtown San Diego (92101). Yes, it’s inside the Horton Plaza mall. So there you go, if you have never tried one of this brazilian bbq places,GO! If you’re in San Diego, or coming to San Diego and looking for a good SanDiego restaurant, try the Brazilian feast. Making Plans For Your Dallas Wedding

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Jason Martinez Congratulations, you and your espoused are on your way to making a lifelong commitment. Between now and your wedding day, youll be planning for what will be one of the biggest events in your life marriage to the one that you love. The busiest days of wedding planning are just ahead of you, with reception venue, wedding party details, and a whole host of other matters to tend to. If you are planning on getting married in the Dallas area, then the fine points as outlined here will help relieve some pressure as you organize your plans. A Date And A Venue Your wedding plans will involve much more than the size of your wedding or even your honeymoon planning. Coming up with a date and a venue will determine virtually every other aspect of your wedding day. Many couples give strong consideration to holding an outdoors wedding event, particularly in a setting rich with flora and fauna. Historic Lee Park is most popular during the months when Dallas humidity is at its lowest. During the hotter months, Arlington Hall at Lee Park provides the majestic setting that so many couples desire. Arlington Hall is able to accommodate small, intimate wedding parties as well as lavish, wondrous weddings for as many as 500 guests. You and your guests can beat the heat and feel refreshed with the halls air-conditioning keeping everyone comfortable. Besides Arlington Hall, couples will often take a look at the Dallas Museum of Art as a special place to hold a wedding. With three options available including the Harmon Atrium, Seventeen Seventeen dining hall, or the breathtaking outdoor Sculpture Garden, the museum could be a memorable setting for any couple in love. Favorite hotels in Dallas for weddings include the Hotel Adolphus and the Crescent Court Hotel. Choose the Adolphus if its near century long tradition of hosting weddings appeals to you or select the Crescent Court if modern day elegance is what you want. Either hotel can accommodate your wedding guests and both hotels will be a favorite place for your out of town guests to stay too. When Help Is Needed Todays busy couples cannot imagine arranging for their own festive event without some sort of outside assistance. While a family member or friend can be of immense help with making arrangements, most couples choose professional assistance in the form of a wedding planner to provide the help that they need. A knowledgeable wedding planner is able to listen to what a couple wants and turn those desires into a successful wedding event. Relying upon her vast storehouse of wedding vendor contacts and previous planning skills, a capable wedding planner can relieve the couple of all of the unavoidable pressures associated with organizing a grand affair so that they can look forward to their big day in peace. Enjoying Your Day And Each Other When it comes down to it, a wedding should be about you and your spouse, not the scores of attendant responsibilities that come with arranging your special day. An accomplished wedding planner taps her favorite resources to present a graceful event that allows the newlyweds to enjoy their special day, the company of their guests, and above all else each other. If you should need assistance planning your wedding, it would be a wise decision to contact a dallas wedding planner to help you achieve the day you have always dreamed about. Low-Carb Diets: Are You Losing More than Weight?

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Monique N. Gilbert The average American eats about twice as much protein than what they require. Some people, in the pursuit of thinness, are going on low-carb diets and are eating up to four times the protein their body needs. Protein deficiency is certainly not a problem in America. So exactly how much protein do you really need? Much less than you think. Protein is a vital nutrient, essential to your health. In its purest form, protein consists of chains of amino acids. There are 22 amino acids that combine to form different proteins, and 8 to 9 of these must come from the foods we eat. Our body uses these amino acids to create muscles, blood, skin, hair, nails and internal organs. Proteins help replace and form new tissue, transports oxygen and nutrients in our blood and cells, regulates the balance of water and acids, and is essential for making antibodies. However, too much of a good thing may not be so good for you. Many people are putting their health at risk by eating to much protein. Excessive protein consumption, particularly animal protein, can result in heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, and kidney stones. As important as protein is for our body, there are many misconceptions about how much we really need in our diet, and the best way to obtain it. According to the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health, as little as 50-60 grams of protein is enough for most adults. This breaks down to about 10-12% of total calories. Your body only needs 0.36 grams of protein per pound of body weight. To calculate the exact amount you need, multiply your weight in pounds by 0.36 (if using kilograms, multiply your weight in kilograms by 0.8). This will give you your optimum daily protein requirement in grams. Infants, children, pregnant and nursing women require more protein. People on low-carb diets are consuming up to 34% of their total calories in the form of protein and up to 53% of total calories from fat. Most of these people are unaware of the amount of protein and fat that is contained in the foods they eat. For instance, a typical 3-ounce beef hamburger, which is small by American standards, contains about 22 grams of protein and 20 grams of fat. You achieve quick weight loss on these diets because of this high fat content. High fat foods give you the sensation of feeling full, faster, so you end up eating fewer total calories. However, this type of protein and fat combination is not the healthiest. Animal proteins are loaded with cholesterol and saturated fat. Many people on these diets also experience an elevation in their LDL (the bad) cholesterol when they remain on this diet for long periods. High levels of LDL cholesterol in the blood, clog arteries and is the chief culprit in heart disease, particularly heart attack and stroke. So while you may lose weight in the short-run, you are putting your cardiovascular health in jeopardy in the long-run. Another reason weight loss is achieved on these low-carb diets, at least temporarily, is due to water loss. The increase in the amount of protein consumed, especially from meat and dairy products, raises the levels of uric acid and urea in the blood. These are toxic by-products of protein breakdown and metabolism. The body eliminates this uric acid and urea by pumping lots of water into the kidneys and urinary tract to help flush it out. However, a detrimental side effect of this diuretic response is the loss of essential minerals from the body, including calcium. The high intake of protein leaches calcium from the bones, which leads to osteoporosis. Medical evidence shows that for every 1 gram increase in animal protein ingested the body loses an average of 1.75 milligrams of calcium in the urine. Additionally, as calcium and other minerals are leached from our bones, they are deposited in the kidneys, which can form into painful kidney stones. If a kidney stone becomes large enough to cause a blockage, it stops the flow of urine from the kidney and must be removed by surgery or other methods. Plant-based proteins, like beans, legumes and soyfoods, also provide fiber, which helps lowers LDL cholesterol and raises HDL (the good) cholesterol. This prevents the build up of arterial plaque, which leads to atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and heart disease, thus reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke. The amount and type of protein in your diet also has an important impact on calcium absorption and excretion. Vegetable-protein diets enhance calcium retention in the body, and causes less calcium excretion in the urine. This reduces the risk of osteoporosis and kidney problems. Interestingly, kidney disease is far less common in people who eat a vegetable-based diet than it is in people who eat an animal-based diet. By replacing animal protein with vegetable protein, and replacing saturated fat with unsaturated fat (like olive and canola oils), you can avoid the pitfalls of the typical high-protein low-carb diet. You will improve your health and regulate your weight while enjoying a vast array of delicious, nutritionally dense, high fiber foods. Remember, eat everything in moderation and nothing in excess. Also, the healthy way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat nutritiously and make permanent lifestyle changes that allow you burn more calories than you take in. Copyright 2005 Monique N. Gilbert.
