Fixed or Variable Interest Rates: Which is the Best Loan Solution for You

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Greg_Pashby]Greg Pashby When applying for a loan, interest rate is certainly one of the most important factors to determine whether a borrower accepts a loan or continues to shop their loan. An important decision you will need to make is whether or not you want the interest rate to be fixed or variable. Fixed interest rates are stable over the duration of the loan, whereas variable rates, the most common type, fluctuate in accordance with changes in the national interest rate. Variable interest rates are generally used for smaller loans. Positively, fixed rates make budgeting easier and provide security against sudden increases in the national interest rate. Conversely, should the national rate decrease, you may end up paying greater interest than you would on a variable rate. Though appealing to most, fixed rate mortgage loans arent for everyone. Other types of mortgage loans allow you to borrow more than you could with a fixed rate mortgage. If your stay in the home that you are borrowing against is short in tenure, then you would probably end up paying more in interest than you would if you chose a variable rate mortgage. Finally, with fixed interest rates, you are committed to that rate for the duration of your mortgage, even if the market rate drops sometime in the future. Keep in mind that the first offer you receive is not always the best. Take your time, explore all options from many different lenders, and decide which policy best suits your needs. It is always okay to say no. You may reprint this article with the URL links intact. How to Make Your Own Beauty Products

Monday, February 11th, 2008

By Katharina Bishop Few of lifes luxuries lift our spirits and promote our self-esteem as effectively as beauty products. This feel good factor more often than not comes with a hefty price tag attached to it. Add the words organic, natural or herbal to the label and the cost is higher still. Or is it? Beauty products need not be costly. You can achieve professional results at home on a shoestring budget. Skin care products are among the most popular beauty treatments. From cleansers to toners to lotions, the more they claim to do the more expensive they generally are. Many of the store bought products often contain toxic substances, many of which are synthetically derived from petrochemicals. These ingredients have the potential for causing cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders, allergic respiratory reactions, and skin and eye irritations. Many chemicals found in cosmetics don’t cause immediate visible signs of toxicity, but affect our health negatively over time through repeated use. Making your own beauty products saves you money and ensures complete control over the ingredients. This is especially useful if you have sensitive or allergic skin. It is surprisingly simple to achieve excellent results with relatively little effort and expenditure. Many every day food items such as honey, eggs, cucumber, fruits, and others have been used as beauty enhancers for centuries. Eggs are very versatile. To tone and tighten skin, apply a beaten egg white to your face and rinse it off after it dries. To remove excess oil, whip an egg yolk and mix it with six tablespoons of honey to make a peel off mask. Masking is the oldest of all the beauty arts. Masks rejuvenate and revitalize skin by removing accumulated dead skin cells and restoring normal epidermal function. Regular use of a facial mask tightens pores and stimulates the circulation of blood to the face, thereby bringing oxygen and other essential nutrients to the skin. Honey is a natural anti-bacterial agent and moisturizer. It contains trace minerals and amino acids which are beneficial to skin and hair. It may be used on the face as a mask (clover honey is recommended for dry skin, while oily and combination skin benefits from orange blossom honey) and on hair as a conditioning treatment to add shine and moisture. For a honey hair rinse, combine one teaspoon of honey with four cups of warm water and one drop of your favourite essential oil or perfume. Apply this mixture to freshly washed hair and let air dry. For a refreshing facial, pour boiling water over dried chamomile flowers in a bowl and inhale, holding your face a few inches above the water. You can even use the left over liquid to rinse your hair with afterwards. Apart from the benefits to your skin, this treatment also has health benefits for nose, throat and lungs and is especially beneficial for colds and bronchial infections. For an all over beauty treatment, add half a cup of powdered milk to a tub full of hot water. It acts as a skin softener. For added benefit and relaxation, add a muslin bag filled with your favourite herbs to the bath. For a soothing effect, try chamomile flowers or rose flowers. Basil, bay, rosemary, or thyme have an energizing effect. Sage and strawberry leaves relieve muscle aches and painful joints. A handful of oatmeal and two teaspoons of sea salt make an invigorating body scrub. Massage has a relaxing effect on the body and the mind. It loosens tension and blockages and stimulates blood circulation and the lymphatic system, which plays an important role in the bodys immune system. Massage oils consists of a carrier oil (or oil blend) to which essential oils are added. Carrier oils are vegetable oils used to dilute the concentrated essential oils. They help to slow down the evaporation of the essential oils and help absorb them into the skin. For maximum benefit, extra virgin or cold pressed vegetable oils should be used. Popular carrier oils include sweet almond, grape seed, sunflower, sesame, wheat germ, olive and peanut oil. Nut allergy sufferers are advised to avoid nut based oils. Jojoba oil is a very popular oil due to its nutritional properties. Its structure is very close to human sebum so it is easily absorbed. Jojoba oil allows the skin to breathe, unlike other oils. It nourishes the skin and moisturizes it at the same time. Jojoba is actually a liquid wax, not an oil. Making your own beauty products saves you money and let’s you be in control over what goes onto your skin. Even better, its easy and fun. Happy mixing! Katharina Bishop is a freelance writer. Wedding Shower Invitation Basics And Proper Etiquette

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

By Diane Winter Just as a wedding takes a lot of preparation and a number of decisions need to be made to make it perfect, so too does a wedding shower take a lot of work. You need to pick a location that will make the couple feel comfortable, decide on food to serve that the couple will enjoy, select an appropriate color scheme and theme, create and send out wedding shower invitations, etc. Fortunately, by taking care of the wedding shower invitation early, it can really lighten the load. Information to be included on the Wedding Shower Invitation After you have talked with the couple about any preferences they might have for the wedding shower, you should have a good idea of what the couple wants. If the couple has not specified certain information, try to base it on what they typically like. For example, for color scheme try to include their favorite colors in the decorations. If the couple loves Italian food, than make sure that you either have the wedding shower at an Italian restaurant or include some Italian food in what you will be serving. Once you have gathered all the information you need for the wedding shower itself, you need to decide what to include on the wedding shower invitation. Typically you want to include the location, have some indication as to what the attire is, registry information, etc. When you pick out the wedding shower invitation paper, you will want to choose it to match the wedding shower color scheme and theme. If the theme is not obvious from the look of the invitation paper, you will want to mention the theme on the invitation. Wedding showers can be held nearly anywhere. Often people like to have them at restaurants or have them catered so that there is less stress on the host/hostess. If not held at restaurants, you can have them at the home of someone or if they are nature-lovers, you may want to have it at a nice park. Make sure to include a map or directions in with the wedding shower invitation, so that everyone will be able to find the place without calling. Also be sure to add R.S.V.P. information. That way you know how much food to have available. Proper etiquette says that the wedding shower invitation should be sent out six weeks before the shower date. Showers can be held as far as six months prior to the wedding date. Make sure that you never invite someone that is not invited to the wedding. It is best to get a guest list from the celebrated couple to make sure that no one is left out. If the shower is a surprise, ask a couple of the closest relatives of the bride for a guest list. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Emma_Drosy]Emma Drosy In todays world, technology changes so fast that its impossible to keep up. Almost as soon as you purchase a new cellphone, a better version of the same phone will come out! Keeping on top of upgrades and new cellphone equipment can be a tiring chore as cellphone suppliers try to outdo each other with smaller, more complex phones and expensive equipment upgrades. Once you have the phone, you have to have an entire collection of accessories car chargers, wall chargers, devices designed to hold the phones in place, covers to change the color and look of the phone, the list goes on and on. The accessories can even be more expensive than the phone. What if you could buy all the accessories and equipment you need at wholesale prices? Even two different companies who sell the exact same product will quote different prices for their accessories and equipment. Why? Because first and foremost, you must pay for the name that you buy. Visualize Yourself Thin

Friday, February 8th, 2008

By Kate Corbin “In order to change the printout of the body, we must learn to rewrite the software of the mind.” – Deepak Chopra, M.D. Visualization works for everything else. Why not visualize your perfect body – thin and fit and toned? As you visualize your perfect body at your ideal weight, you are actually creating it. In accordance with the Law of Attraction, the process for attracting and creating your ideal body is the same as for attracting and creating anything you desire – focus on what you want until you bring it into being. As you visualize yourself thin, voila, you will be thin! Become a Magnet for Your Perfect Body. Visualization is such a powerful process because your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between something that is real and something that is vividly imagined. As you visualize yourself thin, you become a vibrational match to your desire – you actually become a magnet for a thin body. As you consistently imagine yourself thin, you are creating that exact image. Visualization is the key to intentional creation. Because your mind thinks in pictures and images, as you visualize, you are programming your subconscious mind. As you create a clear mental picture of the body of your dreams, you are employing the power of visualization to manifest the body of your dreams. Your subconscious mind becomes more receptive to your desires when they are charged with strong emotion. When you conjure up the vision AND the feeling of your desire, you activate the vibration of your desire and the Universe responds with the manifestation. Visualization Exercise. Sit or recline comfortably. Close your eyes and take a few long slow deep breaths. Focus on your breathing as you enter into a quiet meditative state. Allow distractions and idle thoughts to float on by. Relax and breathe. As you relax, begin painting a picture in your mind of the body you desire. See yourself already living in this fabulous shape. Visualize your desire as clearly as you can. As you paint the picture, sink deeply into the feeling place of your desire. Deeply FEEL yourself living in your ideal body. Envision the body you truly desire with strong emotion. See yourself as vividly as possible living your amazing life in your amazing body. Visualize yourself in your ideal body at your ideal weight and experience it as if it exists now. Make this picture so real that you actually feel thin and fit and gorgeous. See the way you look, feel, act, and speak. See what exhilarating activities you’re engaged in and see who you’re enjoying them with. See and feel your body with great emotion exactly the way you want it to be. Imprint this picture in your mind. After a few minutes of intensely experiencing your desire, take a deep breath and slowly open your eyes. Hold The Vision of Your Perfect Body. Two excellent times to visualize are as you’re drifting off to sleep at night and as you’re waking up in the morning. In those times, you’re in a state of allowing – relaxed and focused inward. It’s helpful to continue to visualize throughout the day as well. When you continue to see yourself as a thin person, your subconscious mind will move you into actions that align with the vision you hold. Replay this mental image every chance you get. See and feel yourself looking fit and feeling fine. So, go ahead, visualize your perfect body. Visualize Yourself Thin! Where Did Those Cell Phones Come From?

Friday, February 8th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=D_Ruplinger]D Ruplinger In 1949 the first car phone service was introduced. It was called Mobile Telephone Service (MTS). But the beginning of wireless communication started many years earlier, in 1895, when an Italian physicist named Guglielmo Marconi successfully sent wireless signals a distance of one and one half miles. In 1896 Marconi was granted the worlds first patent for a wireless telegraphy system. In 1897 he formed The Wireless Telegraph and Signal Company. During that same year he successfully sent wireless signals a distance of twelve miles. In 1901 Marconi proved the curve of the earth did not affect the successful sending of wireless waves. He proved it by transmitting signals from Cornwall, England to St. Johns, Newfoundland, which was a distance of over two thousand miles. Marconi, along with other scientists and researchers, continued to work and do research on wireless transmissions. In 1932 the worlds first microwave radiotelephone link was established between the Popes summer home in the small Italian town of Caster Gandolfo and Vatican City, a distance of approximately thirty miles. The first ship-to-shore radio conversation took place in 1922 from the ship S.S. America, which was 400 miles at sea. Inter-continent telephone communications between the United States and England occurred in the mid 1930s. As technology improved, interest in a car phone service developed. The first car phone service that was introduced in 1949 was a mobile service, but the equipment was big and heavy. The phone required a large receiver (about the size of a large piece of luggage). It was placed in the trunk of the vehicle. To talk on the phone, a button had to be pushed. To listen to the other person, the button had to be released. It was similar to using a two-way radio. A person couldnt talk and listen at the same time. That technology came later. Phone calls from the first mobile phone service were not direct-dialed. Instead, an operator working for the mobile phone service company answered when the phone was picked up. The operator connected the caller to the phone company operator, who then placed the call. By the early 1960s the technology had improved, but only slightly. One step in the connection process was eliminated. The phone was able to connect directly to the phone company, saving the caller the step of having to connect to the mobile phone service operator first. The improved service was called Improved Mobile Telephone Service or IMTS. By the early part of the 1980s the phones had full-duplex capability. This meant a person could listen and talk at the same time. The phones and receivers were still heavy though. And, because the IMTS phones were a type of scanner, it wasnt unusual for a person to press a channel button on the phone and hear parts of someone elses conversation. Technology continued to improve and continues to improve today. Cell phones are very popular. Today they are a truly mobile device and are easy to transport. Some of the cell phones available today only weigh a few ounces. Some of the small cell phones can be tricky to use though because the buttons on them are very small. Cellular technology continues to improve. In the United States, carriers have been moving from analog technology to digital technology. One big reason the move to digital technology has been made in recent years is because it allows networks to carry more callers at one time. Calls are also more secure on digital networks, but are still far from being totally secure. Today, people experience fewer dropped calls, and with the expansion of networks, there are getting to be fewer areas where there is no reception at all. And although many younger people are choosing to have cell phone over a land line phone, there are still many people who are not yet willing to give up their land line phones. How to Avoid Christmas Debt Overload

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

By Rose L The Christmas season is truly the season of giving. There is no other time of the year when peoples hearts are as open or their hands are as freely generous as they are during the Christmas holiday. I mean, even our favorite Christmas motto states, It is better to give than to receive. While giving does fill your heart with joy and help those who are less fortunate than us, many have taken this motto to extremes when it comes to buying Christmas presents for their children, spouses and other family members. It is not uncommon for families to run up tremendous high-interest credit card debt to buy their children elaborate and expensive gifts such as computers, stereos and designer clothes as Christmas gifts. Just take a look at the commercials that air constantly during the Christmas season. They all have one goal in mind: to motivate you to spend as much money as you can during the holidays. I can remember one commercial in particular that advertised a leading high-end car manufacturer. The husband opened up his gift from his lovely wife to reveal a set of keys. When he went outside to look in the drive, there was a very expensive, sleek and seductive sports car. Seriously, who has been good enough all year to deserve a $50,000 luxury sports car? But the message is clear, give the very best. The same angle is used on men when it comes to buying expensive jewelry for their wives. Its never ending. Now, Im not saying that advertisers are to blame for our ballooning Christmas debt. They are simply armed with the knowledge that more consumer spending takes place during the holidays, and they want a piece of the pie. The fault then lies with our own inability to curb our holiday spending. It seems that even if we do not have the money to finance a lavish Christmas, we will still purchase one using our high-interest credit cards and worry about paying it off later. And worry we do. If this scenario sounds familiar, it doesnt have to be that way yet again this Christmas. You can take a few simple steps to alleviate Christmas debt altogether. Heres how: Spread your holiday spending throughout the year. If youre one of those people who love to lavish your family members with expensive gifts during the Christmas season and you dont want to stop the practice, you can avoid a debt hangover by spreading your purchases throughout the year instead of all at once a few weeks before Christmas. Set a holiday budget. Decide what you can reasonably afford to spend during the holidays and do not go above that amount even if it means sacrificing gifts along the way. Buy only for those closest to you. Contrary to what you might believe, you do not need to buy gifts for all 27 of your nieces and nephews. Buy for those in your household first, and then, if you have any left over, buy for those closest to you. You should also avoid buying for everyone at work. Just because someone buys for you that does not mean that you need to return the favor. Simply send a Thank You card and remember to put them on your Christmas card list. Remember that the best gifts come from the heart and not the department store. Likely many in your family would enjoy spending more time with you during the holiday season instead of watching you run from store to store trying to find the perfect gifts. Why not opt to spend more time together this year and keep gift giving to a minimum? Homemade gifts mean more and are less expensive. Wouldnt it warm your heart to know that your beloved Aunt or Grandma baked your favorite Christmas treat especially for you? You wouldnt have to know that yours was just a sampling of a large batch that she also distributed to her beautician, neighbors and friends. It didnt cost her much money, and it wont cost you much either to do the same for your friends. So, before you get caught up in the frenzy of Christmas consumer spending, take a moment to reflect on what is most important to you and your family during the holiday season. Herbs Today

Friday, February 1st, 2008

By Troy Francis It seems like there is quite a bit of interest about herbs these days, and there’s a lot to learn about them. Books, magazine articles, online blogs, and other publications all list articles and plenty of information about herbs and what they can offer. They serve two main purposes, first of all is they add flavor to many foods and they have many health qualities and benefits. Many people in ancient times would spend their entire lives studying herbs and gathering more knowledge about the beneficial properties that they contain. Most of us have our first exposure to herbs in the kitchen. We love the distinct flavor the oregano, and garlic in many Italian food dishes, the aroma and great taste of curry when we try Indian cuisine, and rosemary paired with leg of lamb. Well, that sounds good doesn’t it? I know I love it. The use of herbs is really an indigenous thought, because they basically use of what they can grow. The variety is astounding, and now as many cultures around the world are in greater contact than ever, and people are crossing borders in large numbers, more and more people are being introduced to new flavors through herbs. This assortment of different herbs and the crossing over into different cultures is becoming more and more prevalent as the world becomes more and more accessible. Your traditional cultures also still use herbs as medicines. They either have strong beliefs in them or simply do not have the knowledge and today’s medicines that the world has developed. Almost always it’s the combination of both. But even industrialized nations depended on many herbs before the development of medical antibiotics. They have proven to be so effective, many folk remedies fell by the aside. Learning about herbs is no longer as such an important thing now that industrialization and lots of science have such a huge impact on our modern life. Overuse of antibiotics has been causing antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria to develop, which frightens many people. A lot of our current medicines are actually keep all from ancient forerunners. Western cultures are beginning to hold these that this all plants just as other world cultures have for centuries, especially Chinese herbal medicine and Indian ayurveda medicine types. These have been practiced for thousands and tousands of years. There is so much to learn about herbs, and for those who are studying it, they certainly can attest to that. www.exercise-diet.com Please, feel free to use or republish this article.
