The Truth On Loan Amortization Calculator

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dennis_Estrada]Dennis Estrada The loan amortization calculator, creates the spreadsheets of principal, interest, and balances on each payment period, provides a big picture on how the mortgage will turn out. The mortgage payment covers the principal and interest. In the life of mortgage, the balance decreases as the borrower makes regular payment. Thus, the borrower sees for any chance of negative amortization. A negative amortization is a point in time when the payment is not enough to cover the principal and interest. To a mortgage dictionary, the amortization means the repayment of mortgage thru installments of regular payments. And, the loan means the sum of money that lender lends to the borrower to be repaid on a specified period. It is also good to know principal, and interest rate which are use to calculate the mortgage payment. The principal means the face value of the mortgage, while the interest rate means percentage of the balance to be paid. The biggest advantage of loan amortization calculator is to see the mortgage tax deduction. For each payment period, the calculator computes the mortgage interest. The mortgage interest tax deduction is one of the potent tax deductions for homeowners. For the latest news on mortgage interest tax deduction, you may want to refer to Internal Revenue Services (IRS). Actually, the lender sends form 1098 to the borrower. The form shows the total mortgage interest for the entire year. The borrower places the total mortgage interest to Schedule A Form 1040 of the income tax return. To qualify for the tax deduction, borrower must fill out Schedule A Form 1040, liable for the loan, and secures the debt. Only the actual borrower, who pays the mortgage and owns the home, can claim the tax deduction. To secure the debt, borrower can use mortgage, deed of trust, or land contract. The mortgage, deed of trust, or land contract ensures the repayment of debt in case of default of mortgage payment. The mortgage interest of any home, that includes sleeping, toilet, and cooking facilities, qualifies for mortgage tax deduction. So, the house, condominium, cooperative, mobile home, house trailer, or boat house usually qualifies for tax deduction. Furthermore, the home is the first and second home of the borrower. To conclude, the loan amortization calculator helps the potential mortgage borrower to see the overview of the life of the mortgage. Seeing the amortization schedule, the borrower can tell how he wants the loan to work. The amortization schedule even tells the mortgage interest tax deduction. For the complete information on mortgage interest tax deduction, you may want to consult IRS. The laws and regulations change all the time. Especially, there are talks of removing the mortgage interest tax deduction. Budget Planning Tips For The Budget Savvy Bride

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

By Cathy Mackay While a wedding budget doesn’t sound all that glamorous, it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. In fact, planning your wedding without a budget is almost guaranteed to land you into serious financial debt.Wedding costs can rapidly escalate out of control which is why it’s so important to begin the planning by devising a realistic budget. And once you’ve got the numbers crunched, it’s equally important that you both stick to the budget. What’s the key to a successful budget? Open, honest, two-way communication is an absolute must. Newly-engaged couples must talk about how each envisions his and her special day. Women work on the assumption that guys don’t care about the details but that’s not always true. It is, after all, the man’s big day, too and he has a family to please as well. It is important to openly talk about what’s important to each of you in regards to your wedding day. Then, make a list of what you both want (a horse-drawn carriage, steak and lobster dinner, western wedding theme, color scheme, etc.) and what are absolute necessities (for example a photographer, caterer, rings, etc.). You’re going to use this information when it’s time to allocate your budget. Once you both have an idea of what’s important, it’s time to crunch the numbers. You’ve got to determine how much money is available now (for example, in savings accounts, stocks/bonds, real estate, trust funds), how much you’ll have to commit to saving from your regular income streams, and how much you can realistically expect others to kick in(parents and in-laws). Depending on how far away the actual wedding date is you may want to consider opening a higher-interest bearing account for the money so that it can earn interest. When you know where the money’s coming from and how much is coming, you’ll know how much you’ll be able to spend. Now make another list of all wedding-related expenses and allocate a dollar amount or the percentage you’re willing to spend next to each item. This will help when you’re actually contracting for these services. Remember that if you exceed your budgeted amount in one category, you’ll have to scale back another so your budget will stay balanced. Because budgeting is so very important for most couples, you’ll find that wedding budget worksheets, software and other tools are available everywhere. Cathy Mackay is an onlline wedding planner. 5 Fun Ideas For An Interesting Date Night

Monday, November 12th, 2007

By Tim Lee You don’t really have to spend so much to enjoy a fun and memorable night with your date. Remember that the purpose of a date is for you and the other person to get to know each other more deeply and find out if a more stable relationship is in the works for the two of you. You don’t have to go all out to impress the person you’re with. Sure, a fancy dinner might awe her for a minute or two, but without a personality, you might as well say goodbye to a second attempt. There are many ways to enjoy an evening date. Before anything, settle on an activity that is amenable to both of you. Don’t go walking barefoot by the shore if she’s not into getting her feet dirty and does not really enjoy the beach. Don’t opt for a fancy dinner if she’s more comfortable with casual environments, like a local ice cream shop or a Mexican deli. Compromise at the onset so that things run smoothly during the entire duration of the date and you won’t have to worry about what she does and doesn’t like along the way. But, if your date likes surprises, then you can let your creativity rise in full force. Below are some fun tips to ensuring an interesting date night. 1) Go to a carnival Going to a carnival or fair is the perfect date for those who love to love life. There’s plenty to see and do to keep the conversation flowing. And with the flurry of colorful lights all around, you are sure to never get bored. 2) Disco fever Scan local listing for the nearest rollerskating alley or 70s night club and treat your date to a night of reminiscing and dancing. You might even want to dress according to the theme of the night to keep things interesting. Don’t forget to take pictures so you’ll have something to laugh over and share stories about after. 3) Belt out some tunes One of the most fun night date ideas is going to the Karaoke bar. You and your date might want to get up on stage and prove to the world than you can, ahem, sing, or you can just enjoy the night and watch people fumble over the lyrics and bastardize melodies. Singing love songs on the first date is a no-no, though. It’s too cheesy and could scream ‘desperate’. 4) Roadtrip Get in the car and just drive. You don’t have to have a specific location. You can even circle all the town’s streets if you want to. A car date gives you an opportunity to talk to your date longer, without having to worry about whether she likes where you took her or is picky about ambience. If you get hungry, go to a drive-through. 5) Reverse the Dinner-Movie Routine Go to the movie first before you head for dinner. This way, you have more time to talk to your date and get to know her. You’ll definitely have a better topic to break the ice because you can instantly jump into a discussion about the film without those awkward ‘hi’, ‘hello’ pauses. Finally, after all has been said and done, take the dating experience for what it really is — dating. You don’t need to exert too much effort to please the other person, otherwise you’ll be misperceived as pushing too hard. Calm your nerves. Dating should be fun! My Trip To The Land Of Israel And How I Discovered The Kingdom Of God

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

By Jimmy Massa Over four years ago people tried to murder me because a gang I was associating with set me up and spread false information about me. I was so close to losing my life its a miracle Im alive today. I thank and praise the Lord everyday that Im still alive. After almost getting murdered I decided I wanted to live a Godly life, and I thought that Israel was a Godly country so I decided to go over there and possibly live there. After visiting Israel I discovered there was nothing Godly about it, everywhere I went people were carrying around machine guns, and there was a dark look in the eyes of the people there. When I arrived in Israel I was confronted with a Godless country and the spirit there was cold and dark, the country seemed riddled with: darkness, confusion, paranoia and distrust, the spirit there certainly did not reflect anything Godly. I thought to myself if the land of Israel represents God and the Holy Land I want nothing to do with it. The spiritual perception I got in Israel was a dark one, and I certainly did not find the Kingdom of God there. I left Israel after being there for a couple of days and I arrived back to my home country Australia shortly after. After being in Australia for sometime I started becoming interested in spiritual concepts and the real meaning of life. I started giving involved in witchcraft and the occult and I soon found out that these were the wrong spirits, and that the spirits involved in the occult are dangerous and controlling. I eventually made a decision to take a break from the occult as it was becoming quiet intrusive on me. The spirits involved in the occult are real and they want to take possession of people, and these spirits were certainly trying to take possession of me in overt ways. But God was with me and protected me from spiritual demonic possession. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (I John 4:4). I dont believe in coincidences, and I believe that God is always watching us, and God saw that I was becoming disillusioned with the occult, so one day He sent a Christian man into my life to tell me about Jesus Christ and the gospel. The Christians name was Chris and he was a Christian missionary, he told me about Jesus Christ and about the bible. I found Chris a very warm man and he definitely had a good spirit because his spirit felt comforting. I met Chris a few times on an ongoing basis in the city where I lived, and he and his friend eventually asked me if I wanted to ask Jesus Christ into my life. I decided to ask Jesus into my life and I felt a tremendous peace enter me and that peace hasnt left me in two years. After learning more about the bible and fellowshipping with Christians I felt like I had found Gods Kingdom, because I felt at peace and I felt close to God when I fellowshipped with my Christian friends. Jesus said that the Kingdom of God did not come by observation and He said we would never see it. Gods Promised Land and the His Kingdom is not the physical land of Israel in the Middle East, Gods Kingdom is a spiritual Kingdom in the hearts of Christians, because when we ask Jesus into our heart, God comes to dwell within us. Luke 17:20-2120 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 “nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Jesus clearly says here that the Kingdom of God can not be seen with our eyes and it does not come by observation, because the Kingdom of God is in our hearts when we ask Jesus to come into our lives. When Christians fellowship together in the love of Christ they are in the true Kingdom of God; and they are truly existing in the Promised Land that comes not by observation. The Kingdom of God is an unseen Kingdom that dwells in the hearts of men and women who ask Jesus to come into them. God promised land is unseen by carnal eyes, but if youre a Christian and can see through the eyes of Christ you can see the real eternal Kingdom of God in the hearts of true born again believers. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18). The physical land of Israel in the Middle East is only a temporal seen physical thing, and its going to pass away, only the words of Jesus will last for eternity. Jesus said, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (Matt 24:35). If you want to be apart of Gods eternal Kingdom you need to have the living word within you, because thats the only way to live for eternity in Gods Kingdom. The living word is Jesus Christ and if you have Him in your heart you will never pass away, and you will belong to the unseen spiritual land of Israel, the real Kingdom of God and the real Israel. Jesus said that the Kingdom of God cannot be seen, physical Israel is clearly not Gods Kingdom because its a seen physical place that people can see, and Jesus clearly said that the Kingdom of God cannot be seen. Gods Kingdom dwells within the hearts of born again believers of Jesus Christ; its a spiritual Kingdom that will never die. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3). If you get on a plane and fly to Israel you will not find Gods Kingdom there, because a plane will not take you to Gods Kingdom. If you want to enter Gods Kingdom you need to be born again just like Jesus says because Jesus said you cannot enter the Kingdom of God “unless you are born again.” To see the Kingdom of God, you must be born again through Jesus Christ. If you want to live for eternity and be apart of the glorious spiritual Kingdom of God, all you need to do is ask Jesus Christ into your life. Its a free gift from God, if you open the door of your heart and ask Jesus to come in, he will come into you and dwell within you and bring the Kingdom of God into your heart. Jesus said, Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear My voice and open the door, I will sup with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20). Reader, I have a ticket right here for you that I am giving away for free that will take you to the Kingdom of God. Just say this prayer and mean it with your heart and soul and the Kingdom of God will come to you: Dear Jesus, I know Im a sinner and I make mistakes all the time, I repent of the wrongs Ive done in the past and I ask you to please come into my life and set me free. Please come into my heart and fill the empty space in my heart with your love and peace. Please bring the spiritual Kingdom of God into my heart that you promised us in the gospels, I want to live forever in your eternal Kingdom with you Jesus. Take me to the Promised Land Jesus and come and dwell within me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen If you have prayed this prayer you are on your way to the Kingdom of God, and you will live for eternity in that Kingdom that will never pass away. For God so loved the world he gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whosoever believed in Him would not perish but would have eternal life. (John 3:16). If you prayed this prayer, you have booked yourself a ticket that will take you to the spiritual Kingdom of God and you will live for eternity. Help! Your Heart is Missing From Your Scrapbooking Journaling - Part 4

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

By Fion Lim Do you find that humans have a tendency to state the obvious and this tendency carries over to scrapbooking journaling too? Let’s take for example. There’s a photo showing your little girl doing a little tap dance routine at her dance school. Instead of journaling the obvious that she’s dancing, why not list out the wonderful traits she exhibited from her dance practice? Like how she has displayed persistence in perfecting her dance steps by spending a few uninitiated afternoons practicing her moves at home alone? Rather than harping on the obvious fact that she’s dancing, you can have the chance to remind her of a wonderful trait of persistence you hope she’ll carry into adulthood as well. Not only can we do fantastic scrapbooking journaling on the non-obvious stuff, we can journal on our imagination and expectations too. Take some quiet minutes now to image how life would be when all your kids are all grown up and how life would turn out for each of them. Journal about how you imagine your son’s future girlfriend would look like. Write about the possible careers your girl would take on. Keep these “imaginative” scrapbook pages and compare notes when they eventually grow up in 10 or 15 years later. See how youre little “predictions” turn out! Scrapbooking journaling doesn’t have to be confined to focusing on all the good and happy memories and thoughts too. Make it a point to be realistic when you are journaling. If you keep realism in check and didn’t portray just a perfect world in your scrapbooking, your scrapbooks will reflect a much more humane side to life. And yes, that’s scrapbooking journaling from the heart. Journaling about mistakes and not so glorious events in your life will sure inject a strong dose of realism in your scrapbooks. Like the time your 6-year-old boy went up to perform onstage for his very first time and recited an almost inaudible poem to the forgiving crowd. Though he didn’t perform with flying colors, you applauded his bravery to take on the challenge in his scrapbook. It’s not a matter of rubbing salt in the wound to journal about one’s mistakes, but to seek for the good in the bad and to draw out the lesson to be learned from the experience. Your kids will remember such things anyway. So why not take the chance to scrapbooking journaling from your heart to bring a degree of positiveness to the experience? Throwing in your senses and feelings into scrapbooking journaling is another way to heat up your pages. Instead of writing something like “Keith excitedly open up his birthday presents and he had lots of fun that day.” Put in more emotions into your journaling. Try something like “Keith literally jumped up and clapped his hands in glee when it’s time for him to open up his birthday presents. He had a hard time deciding whose present to open up first. There were 11 presents for him. You could see a little frown forming on his brows and how he eyes shifted quickly from one present to the next. Finally, he reached out for the biggest present from his Auntie Gillian. He gave the present a bear hug first before ripping open the wrapper. He broke into happy giggles the present revealed a bicycle! Keith ran round and round in excitement before throwing himself at his Auntie Gillian and wetting her face with his sloppy kisses. He almost forgot all about the other presents.” Want another fun and creative scrapbooking journaling tip? Give the top 10 list a try. Such lists will practically make you sit up and think hard to squeeze out ten traits, reasons, talents or whatever the challenge may be to hit the quota. And people just can’t get enough of such lists. I know I can’t. Top-ten lists are fun and a brain-teaser. And it’s making you think and help you journal more interestingly. Scrapbooking journaling from the heart doesn’t mean serious business all the time. In fact, it can be fun and easy. Its more of a matter of putting some thoughts and writing from your heart, and breaking away from the usual reporting style of writing. Create A Community Around Your Blog

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

By Lawrence Andrews If you sell products such as web hosting, wholesale camere equipment, a blog is great for posting content like product reviews, photography tips, and news that is all aimed at a very specific target audience. An excellent example of this is the innovative online retailer AnHosting (www.anhosting.com). AnHosting sell a unlimited number of web hosting accounts every day at a knockdown price, and their blog acts as a content archive with details of all the previous feature accounts. This keyword-rich content attracts a lot of search engine traffic consisting of people who are looking for web hosting. Through their blog, AnHosting has been able to build up a loyal community of bargain hunters who access the web site at the start of each day to check out that day’s coupon and often leave comments. A community like this encourages people to return again and again, and you can even use this community to help you generate ideas for new services or products. For example, if you sell a software application you have developed, you can invite readers of your blog to contribute suggestions as to how the software could be improved for the next version. A very high profile example of this strategy at work is the EA Sports Madden NFL 06 community Blog. Video game giant EA Sports takes advantage of the blog format by creating various blogs for individual games and building a community of games around these titles. By asking games for their input, EA can publicize future versions of game before they’re even in production. And involving their customers helps keep gamers loyal to EA Sports titles. If you sell a product that is regularly updated, a blog is perfect for generating invaluable customer feedback as to how you can improve your product. Here is a software that can help you sell more of your products "Automated Blog Posting Software." How to Make Handmade Envelopes

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

By Kim Monaco Looking for an easy, family-friendly craft idea? Handcrafting envelopes is a very easy, fun and inexpensive craft project for all - adults and children. Only a few simple tools are needed to make an envelope - an envelope template (can be purchased at a store or created at home - read on!), pen or pencil, glue, scissors and paper. The first step in making an envelope involves the envelope template. Envelope templates can be easily crafted at home. To make an envelope template at home, choose any size envelope, open it up and unglue the flaps - instant envelope template. The second step to making handmade envelopes is quick and easy, too. Choose a piece of paper (any paper works!), and lay the envelope template on the paper. Trace the outline of the envelope template with a pencil or a pen on the chosen paper. The next simple step takes one back to kindergarten, use the scissors and cut along the drawn outline. Finally, just follow the template for where to fold and crease, use some glue to seal the flaps - be sure to leave an opening for the envelope contents! Stuff the handmade envelope with the contents and that’s it! Handmade envelopes can be created from a variety of papers for a unique look every time. Some paper examples include cardstock, construction paper, scrapbook paper, vellum, magazine pages, gift wrap, wallpaper, stamped paper - be creative and have fun with it! Make homemade envelopes in a variety of different sizes too. Envelopes can be gift enclosure sized to 9×12 large size or anything in between. Handmade envelopes are a simple craft for anyone. Beware, creating handmade envelopes is addictive! How To Get Started With Your First Invention

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

By Robert Stewart So, a little light bulb inside you head has lit up and you are struck with the idea that you invented something. You are not sure yet how practical your idea is at this time, but something tells you that this might be the Big break you were looking for. What you do next and how you approach your next steps is extremely important and will either lead you on to glory or willdoom your undertaking. The steps that I will outline a little later might seem unnecessary; however I want to assure you that in the end you will be happy that you took my advice. Before we proceed with the discussion, I would like to offer a few words of wisdom. While working on your idea you will encounter people who will criticize your work and try to discourage youfrom forging ahead. Some of the criticism will be deserved and should be taken into account. If you see that a valid point is raised that you never thought of before - the better off you are. It gives you opportunity to pause and view your idea from another perspective (or angle). However, you may also encounter a so-called destructive criticism that is not based on any facts. When you learn how to separate these two, you will be better of. My advice to you - - Don’t be afraid to question professionals, because most experts are one-track minded and oblivious to other things - Don’t be afraid to challenge other people’s ideas, stand by your principles and be firm - Don’t be afraid to discover that your own idea is faulty. Pause, make corrections, re-analyze and move ahead When you are ready to market your idea, you will have to deal with large corporations. Keep in mind that the bigger the company is, the more bureaucratic it is. Many big companies lose focus and often hire employees who are either not qualified for the job, or just not interested in what they are doing. If you come across these folks who are trying to make you feel insignificant (and your idea unimportant and impractical) don’t get discouraged by this - chances are you will be better off dealing with smaller company that is more focused and willing to take risks! Step 1 - Stay Focused and Clearly Document Your Idea This step has huge benefits, because 1. You will clearly define your idea/invention2. While documenting your idea, you may find ways on how to expand your invention Always try to put on paper what it is that you invented - precisely define your idea, its purpose, limitations and target audience. If you cannot precisely define your idea, then this means that you should take a step back, re-analyze your thinking and simplify things. The most common error that people make at this stage is over-complicating their idea. A quick example will clarify this point: Case Study 1 John K. has an idea on how to improve Automatic Knife Mechanism. While laboring hard on his invention, John K. produces technical drawings and decides that his future product will benefit from the addition of extra items a scissor and a screw driver. However, the addition of these items makes the final product larger and heavier. In order to make knife lighter, John K. goes back to the drawing board he compromises his original, Automatic Push/Pull mechanism design in attempt to accommodate unnecessary extra features that have nothing to do with his unique design. By taking away features from his original design, John K. makes his final design very pedestrian and it lacks in originality. In the final analysis, John K. should have stopped right before making any changes to his original Automatic Knife Mechanism and asked himself the following am I better off with the original mechanism or with pedestrian mechanism which has extra features? Are the extra features even necessary? The above example clearly illustrates the following focus on your original idea and ignore additional, superfluous features that might muddle your vision. Extra features will come into play later, once you clearly described and shaped your invention. Step 2 Exploratory Stages Determine if your idea is unique Once youve documented your idea, you should start thinking about the following how unique is my idea? In order to answer these questions, you will have to do some legwork and hit your local library and internet. Unless you allocated a large amount of your budget to Patent Lawyers, who will do the research for you, you will be better off doing initial research by yourself. Why? Because you may discover during your exploratory searches that your design is not unique and save yourself from paying Big Lawyer fees. A note of caution dont get discouraged if you determine that the idea similar to yours already exists and already patented. The fact that someone came to the similar conclusions as you, just a little bit earlier is good you have a competition! Competition is good, competition is healthy! Carefully examine competing product, even take it apart, if necessary. Determine what differentiates your idea from competitors, its limitations and how successful was another person (or a company) with marketing it. As you can see, you can actually learn from mistakes of others, avoid their mistakes and forge ahead fully aware of competition and their limitations. Step 3 - Product Safety Considerations Whether you decided to produce a baby product or some type of household appliance, a special care should be taken in describing potential hazards associated with the use of your product. For example, if you invented a new toy designed for small children, try to come up with the list of parts that can potentially harm your little customers. Keep in mind that many people, unfortunately, disregard exploitation manuals. Determine what can or may go wrong with the operation of your product and determine ways on how to improve product safety. The questions that you may ask yourself are the following 1. Am I using proper materials?2. Maybe the part that contains the most hazards should be redesigned? Try to come up with a thorough list of parts that can be potentially hazardous and fix your design before you start marketing your product. You may think of this step as unnecessary, but let me warn you most marketing companies will require you to describe all Safety features of your idea, and you might save yourself some time by doing preparations ahead of time. Step 4 - Demographics and Determining who will Use Your Product Ones you have a clear picture of your product and you worked out all nuances of product design, try to determine who will use your product, when and where. Try to ask yourself the following questions 1. What is the age bracket of target audience?2. Is my product designed for Men, Women, or Both?3. Where and when can it be used? Correctly answering these questions will help you properly market your product and stay abreast of the competition. In addition, knowing answers to the above mentioned questions will help you in putting finishing touches on your product. How? If your product is designed for children, then it should be bright and colorful. In addition, if your product is designed for cold climate, you should avoid marketing it in areas where its hot all year long. It is very likely that your product is tailored for certain industry (for example, agricultural); then think of those who will benefit the most from your invention! If your product is designed to work with specific soil or crops, then you should target geographical region rich with desired characteristics. As one can see, this step requires a thorough research, planning and leg work; the benefits, on the other hand, will be payoff rewarding! Step 5 Produce Full or Small Scale Model of Your Product It is extremely important to create a working model off of your idea. Why? By having a real-life model of your idea (or a scaled-down version of it), will help you to - 1. Identify its limitations and gives you a chance to re-think some aspects of your initial design and make necessary corrections2. Enhance your final design In addition to the above mentioned items, the final model will help you psychologically. There is no better feeling then to be able to physically see and touch the creation of your own mind! The fact that you are touching the real-life model of your final design will give you positive psychological boost equal to no other youve experienced during design process, motivating you even more to succeed! The best way to approach this step is to try and draw on a piece of paper the final version of your product, the way you see it at this point in time. Your drawings should show your final idea/product under different angles, in a 2-D and 3-D. The picture might not be pretty because not many of us have the necessary drawing skills. However, this drawing task will help you immensely solidify your design and pin-point items that you still need to work on. In addition, I strongly recommend that you generate your initial product prototype from clay or any other material that is readily available. Why? Because this prototype along with initial drawing will help you explain your idea to technical person who, in turn, will transform your design into highly technical engineering drawing. Once you prepared your model, try to determine what materials will go in into construction of real-life product. Will your product be build of plaster or metal? If metal, then what kind of metal is it aluminum, copper or some type of alloy? Once you determined the necessary materials, estimate production cost because the price that youll charge for your product will depend on the production cost of each individual unit. You dont have to be 100% correct at this stage with your material selections, but its very good to know what materials will go into production of your product so that you have a ball-park figure on the final cost of your product. Step 6 Estimate Cost and Gross Profit Once you determined who will use your product and where (or your products market), it is time to think big try to work out cost/benefit analysis of your product. Below is a case study Mary A., a homemaker with three little children, designed a plastic bottle holder for babies and small toddlers. Her bottle holder was designed in such a way that it would hold both the bottles, spoons and bottle caps. Mary A. created numerous drawings of her product and with the help of her husband managed to produce a full-scale version of her product made of clay. Before involving an engineer, Mary A. estimated that her product will be made entirely out of plastic. The estimated production cost of 1 bottle holder is $3.00 (we presume that the manufacturing plant is located in China and shipping costs are already factored in into the estimated production cost). Mary A. did comparative shopping and determined that other types of Baby Holders are selling around $15 dollars. In addition, Mary found out that three local baby stores each serve 1000 shoppers per day (including online purchases); in addition, each stores requires a 40% commissions per each purchase - meaning that $6 is paid as a commission to the store for each $15 purchase. Mary A. immediately figured out that her total profit will be $6 per each bottle holder ($15 - $6 - $3). Presume that one third of all shoppers in each store have either babies or toddlers who still need bottle holders (approximately 330 consumers per store), Mary A. can generate profit in the amount of 330 X 3 X 6 = $5940. Step 7 Product Marketing Correct marketing strategy is absolutely essential to the success of your idea. Partnering with marketing company that you can trust and rely upon will pay big dividends in the long run and should not be overlooked. What should you know about marketing companies? Most of these companies are divided into two groups (I will call them groups A and B) 1. Group A: These companies claim that they have specific knowledge and inside connections in a broad range of industries. In addition to been expensive, many companies that belong to this group are accused of fraud and inventor should carefully consider who they are dealing with. In the best case scenario, you could potentially lose all your money and valuable time; in worst-case scenario, in addition to losing money someone else may benefit from your invention (unless, of course, you were lucky enough to patent it!!) 2. Group B: These companies give inventor complete freedom in marketing their idea. Inventors choose what to say and focus on emphasize areas that they think are most pertinent to their invention. I would like to point out IdeaJets website (www.ideajets.com):IdeaJets is a marketplace where people with ideas and companies who search for sharp minds meet. In addition to helping you find a right partner who can help you realize your ideas and dreams, IdeaJets also brings inventors in contact with other ambitious people to cultivate and promote the culture of inventiveness and success. You can meet your fellow inventors using IdeaJets messaging system or in Forums. Hopefully, by sharing ideas and opinions, users might view their inventions or ideas in a new light, refine and re-define them to further increase their chances to succeed. As of right now, IdeaJets is completely free! Conclusion and some Final Thoughts: As one can see, it takes a lot of patience, preparation and perseverance on behalf of inventor to succeed. The main thing is to not get discouraged by the presence of competition and potential rejections. As I mentioned in my article, competition is good and healthy. If your competitor is enjoying a great success with the product similar to what youve developed, then this means that the product that you are working on has great potential. Carefully examine competitors product and determine its weaknesses or vulnerabilities. This, of course, presumes that you finalized your initial design, worked out all the kinks and produced a full-scale (or scaled-down) version of your product. Once you know enough about competitors product, carefully study your market and demographics - this will help you in designing marketing strategy specifically tailored towards your product. Put on paper and document all your findings because you may forget some details later on and realize that the data you painfully need is gone. In general, try to incorporate all your findings related to cost, market and demographic analysis into Business Plan and store it in a safe place! Most companies you will try to work or partner with will require you to produce Business Plan documentation. Not having one will force you to produce Business Plan documentation almost overnight and this is not an easy task. My suggestion to you - start working on the Business Plan from the very beginning and save yourself from having sleepless nights! And a final word of wisdom dont be afraid to be over-confident, because confidence and belief in one’s own powers are a great recipe to success! Sunday, November 4th, 2007

By Beth Clark Every single day we meet people - fellow employees, old friends, fresh acquaintances. Regardless of how we come in contact with them, it is a known fact that we are always connecting. While connecting and building relationships is quite common in todays world, it can be difficult to exchange business cards if you feel it is too formal. Are you eager to give out your information, but just dont feel comfortable selling your business cards? For centuries, humans around the globe have felt the same discomfort. Luckily, there are alternative ways to still exchange information, without feeling too proper. In the beginning of the Victorian era, the most appropriate way to exchange contact information was through a calling card. This type of card, which was much more informal than a typical business one, allowed the individual to feel more comfortable exchanging information. Additionally, these personal calling cards were a great way to get into the privileged and influential cliques during that time. Due to the fact that these were so popular in the social scene, Victorian calling cards swept through Europe and the rest of the world, dazzling millions with their fancy designs. Today, Victorian calling cards are generally referred to as personal calling cards. Students, adults, and children alike can all benefit from these wonderful contact cards. For instance, if you are meeting a potential love interest for the first time, you absolutely want to avoid looking too business-like by handing out your business card. Furthermore, you may not want to give out too much information about your employment. Personal calling cards allow you to appear personal, friendly, and it gives the message that you are open to a new relationship. Additionally, students can benefit from this type of personal calling card. Since most newly graduated students do not have the business experience or a position yet, it can be difficult to actually make a business card. Therefore, personal calling cards can allow any student to network, but still keep the informal contact alive. In some areas, children use personalized calling cards as gift tags or play date cards. Instead of purchasing a birthday card to go with a gift, the guest simply attaches their personalized calling card and inserts a handwritten To ____ message. Though business cards are a wonderful way to network, some occasions are just too casual to exchange such information. With the ability to create an individual style at websites such as Printedexpressions.com, these personal calling cards may generate an entirely different trend within the current social scene. A simple card with minimal contact information is key, especially if you do not want to give too much information away. Regardless of your preference, Victorian calling cards are no longer a thing of the past. These personal calling cards allow us to show a creative side one that screams who we are, even if it is only on a card. For more information see http://www.printedexpressions.com.
